ABOUT THE PHOTO
The huge radial engine of the Wildcat, the Wright Aeronautical Corp R1820-56WA, and the sturdy landing gear making it more than capable of landing on an aircraft carrier. This particular Wildcat is painted up in the Fleet Air Arm colours to represent an airframe that was stationed on board HMS Tracker in 1944. A stunning aircraft, and one that has a very distinguishable engine tone, having seen her many times on the Duxford airshow circuit.
